Surrender to Christ

Even devoted followers of Jesus, like the Apostle Paul, keep fighting an internal battle against sin they don't want to lose. That struggle isn't proof God has left; it's often proof He's actively forming us. The fight has already been won at the cross, so our part is to surrender honestly to Jesus rather than trying to out-willpower sin.

Nehemiah returned to a thriving community of God's people only to find them back in ruins because small, seemingly harmless compromises had been allowed to take root. The hope is that this destructive cycle of sin does not have to repeat forever — it is broken not by willpower or better effort, but by surrendering our lives to the lordship of Jesus, who alone can give us a new heart.
