Thesis
Every human heart carries a deep longing for home that no family, place, or holiday tradition can fully satisfy. Pastor Daniel argues from Matthew 1:18–21 that this longing is a God-given indicator that we were made for something beyond this world. The original Christmas announcement reveals three gifts available to anyone who chooses to 'come home' to God through Jesus: the assurance that you are chosen, the confidence that you are led rather than left alone, and the freedom that comes from being forgiven rather than condemned.
Key points

Just as God intervened before Joseph made a life-destroying decision, He desires to lead us and keep us from self-inflicted pitfalls.
- 4
The Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus, is available today to guide every believer into all truth.
- 5
Jesus was born in a manger so He could die on a cross as the final, once-for-all payment for human sin.

Coming home to God requires only confession and faith — not a cleaned-up life — because He is faithful to forgive and purify.
Outline
Introduction — The Longing for Home
Pastor Daniel uses the chaos of holiday travel and the cultural fixation on 'going home for Christmas' to surface a universal human longing. He proposes that Christmas does not create this longing but reveals it, and that it points beyond any earthly destination.
The Announcement — Matthew 1:18–21
The passage is read and framed: the Savior of the world arrived not through prestige or power but through a poor, young, unmarried woman, setting the tone for God's upside-down kingdom.
Point 1 — You Are Chosen, Not Overlooked
God's choice of Mary — a nobody by every cultural standard — illustrates that God selects the willing over the qualified. Pastor Daniel applies this to the congregation: the things we think disqualify us may be the very things God uses, and He is the one who does the choosing.
Point 2 — You Are Led, Not Left Alone
Joseph was moments away from a decision that would have unraveled thousands of years of messianic prophecy, but God intervened through a dream. Pastor Daniel argues that God wants to do the same for us — steering us away from self-destruction — and illustrates it with the story of how God redirected Echoes Church to a better facility.
Point 3 — You Are Forgiven, Not Condemned
The name 'Jesus' means 'He will save His people from their sins.' Pastor Daniel explains that Jesus was born in a manger so He could die on a cross as the final sacrifice for sin, making forgiveness available to anyone who confesses and believes.
Invitation and Closing Prayer
Pastor Daniel invites everyone to 'come home' to God with a moment of decision, a prayer of salvation, and a celebration of those who responded.
Memorable moments
home, the home that your heart is really longing for, it isn't found on a map, but it can be found in a man
there was a longing for belonging connection that's deep within inside of every single soul that if we don't know where to put it, we will unhealthily attach it to the wrong things
are and the things that you think disqualify you from being able to use by God potentially potentially those are the very things that qualify you to be used by God. When
God has better in store for you next year, but it requires you to make a decision to come home
Jesus had to be born to a manger so that he could die for our sins
The greatest Christmas miracle sitting here available to every single one of us is a God in heaven that is is desperately in pursuit of you
Application
Pastor Daniel's call to action is direct: if 2026 is going to look different from every other year, something has to change — and that change begins with making a decision to 'come home' to God. Practically, this means acknowledging that you are a created being made for relationship with your Creator, surrendering the control of your life to Him rather than relying on your own instincts, and receiving the forgiveness that Jesus purchased on the cross. You do not need to clean yourself up first. Confession and faith are the only requirements. For those who have already placed their faith in Christ, the invitation is to lean back into that truth: you are chosen, you are being led by the Holy Spirit, and your past does not define you.
