Would you pray with me, Father? God, that is the cry of our heart is to lift you up in this place. Lord, would you be magnified in this room? Jesus, we don't we don't come here for platitudes.
We don't come here to check them to just check the boxes and go through the motions, Father, that we know this is the thin place, God, where the realities of heaven collide with the realities of earth. And, Father, our expectation this morning is for the supernatural, God, for the miraculous,
God, for people who are walking through addictions and brokenness and divorce. God, we pray in the name of Jesus that all of that would be broken and healing would be found in this place. In Jesus' name, all God's people said,
amen and amen. You can take a seat. Hey, welcome to Echo's Church. Again, we are a a brand new church, and we just believe that if you're looking for a church that you stumbled into, the best church in the history of the world. And, again, just know that I I'm biased. I'm the lead pastor here, and we just man, we're so excited to get to be a small part of what God is doing in the East Valley that I I believe with everything in me that something is shifting in our nation, something is shifting in the world today.
And I think a line that's been drawn in the sand of the people who've just been playing church. It's time to kinda go all in. So our prayer and our hope is that you would you would consider going all in with Jesus. That is the greatest thing you could ever give your life to. And so if you're new, we would love to know so we can help come alongside of you in your faith journey. The easiest way to kinda raise your hand and let us know is just text the word new to 31707.
We've got a whole team outside that would love to answer any questions that you might have about faith or Echoes Church or any of that stuff. And, again, if you're newer to church, you'll notice if you grew up in, a more traditional church like I did, there's not a moment where we pass, a collection plate in front of us, and it's it's because 95% of our giving happens online.
Again, if you're new, don't feel any obligation to give. This is for those of us who call Echoes home, that this all of this only happens because of your generosity and your faithful stewardship of what God has given to you.
I'm reading a book right now about kingdom financial principles, getting ready to teach a series here in a couple weeks on it.
The author was talking about the principle that Jesus in the sermon on the mount tells us in Matthew chapter six, he reminds us, guys, don't store up your treasure here on earth where moths and rust can destroy. He says, instead,
remember what Jesus said, to store your treasure in heaven where where nothing can ever be stolen. And he says that you and I need to remember, we can't take our treasure with us, but we can send it ahead of us.
And sometimes I think we forget because it's like, oh, the church just needs our money. That that's why we give. And, yes, part of why we give is because it helps fund the local missions and the local church ministries,
but we also give because it's a it's a sowing into our eternal home. Right? We believe that all of us are gonna spend eternity somewhere. And I don't know exactly how I don't know exactly how it all works, but the Bible is abundantly clear that it's it's belief in Jesus that gets you into heaven,
but it's your behavior in how you live on this side of eternity that determines
what heaven will be like. And so what we want to invest in is we wanna invest in the kingdom. Right? That this world is falling apart. It's a mess, but we we get the opportunity to invest into a kingdom that will never perish. And so just remember this morning, when you give,
that's what you're investing into. The the ways to give are on the screen behind me. You can text the word give to 31707.
You can go to our website. We do have an offering box on the way out. But again, this is for those of us who call Echoes home. Don't feel like any obligation to give if you're just new and just checking this out. The most important thing for you is to figure out who Jesus is in your life. Amen? Guys,
I'm so excited. We have an amazing guest that's with us today.
This guy named Steve Weatherford is going to preaching today. And again, if you followed his story at all, he's he's got a really amazing journey. He was part of the only team that ever beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. So that's a pretty cool claim to fame. Right? Because everybody knows Tom Brady can be a little bit hard to root for in times. Right? But the amazing part to me about getting to know Steve and his ministry and his anointing and his calling
is it it wasn't his accolades and those types of things that made me want to have him come here and share with us this morning. I I genuinely believe that Steve has an anointing anointing to lead men, and I believe that the revival that is coming, it has to first start in the homes, but it has to start with men.
And so we're actually going to do an event. We'll talk about it a little bit at the end of the service in a month called Launching Pad where Steve's gonna come back and for a whole day, we're gonna take all the men of Echoes Church through an incredibly
powerful experience together. I flew out to Dallas. I did it with him at his headquarters, and so I wanted him to come and kinda just share his heart for you to get to know him. But all of it is just for fair warning. It is a setup because every dude in here, you need to come back in October and do this all day event with us. There's no cost to you. We're covering the cost of all of it. It's an amazing day. I hope that all of you guys will be there. But right now, I need you guys just give Steve Weatherford a huge welcome as he comes out to share the word with us this morning.
Alright, Echoes Church. I'm excited, and this is my second go around. We had the 8AM service, and I think I just had gotten done thanking Daniel and honoring the Tazy family. I looked down, there was like eight minutes left to go. So, I'm gonna get right into it today. I am so excited
to be here with you this morning. I'm so excited to to to be with you in such a time as this.
Men, and I'm gonna speak to the men, and I want everybody to hear me. The time is now. Right? The time is now. Pastor Daniel, thank you for trusting me. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to come here, and I wanna thank the Tazy family as well. If it wasn't for their friendship, I don't believe that I would be here. And I'm excited to share with you what God has done in my life, and I'm believing that God is going to create a deposit
in your spirit this morning. I wanna show you just a quick picture of my family real quick. Let me get out of the way so you can see them. This is the Weatherfords, this is all eight of us. I've got six children. I've been married to my wife for eighteen years.
And the first thing that I wanna do is just, she's probably watching at home, is just thank her for loving me, for giving me, giving grace to me, and also for watching my six beautiful kids while I'm out sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and what he's done for me. Eighteen years, and then there's my son. Yeah.
We can Taylor Swift clap for that. And now, that's my son, he's 17, his name is Ace. We can give him a two clap. Two clap. There we go. And then I've got a daughter Carney, she's 15, she's a volleyball player. My daughter Aurora, Josie,
Golden, and then the little guy down there, his name is Kingston, he's four years old right now, and I really wanna honor my wife and lift her high. She's given me six kids and that last one that she had was the biggest baby born in the hospital last year in Texas. Twelve pounds and three ounces. Whoo.
Twenty four inches long. Most people's babies get get measured in inches, mine and feet, baby.
And I'm up here pounding my chest, but my wife my wife did all of the work, but we actually added we added all of the poundages up from our children, nine pounds, nine pounds, five, ten pounds, two, ten pounds, five, and twelve, three, 61 of children. The real MVP.
Alright. Because I don't have that much time with you, I wanna be really, really clear on what I believe God is sending me here to accomplish. I believe that God wants me to help you excavate to elevate. Say that with me, excavate to elevate. What does that mean? Well, I believe I believe that
the world has conformed us, right? Like slowly but surely, just kinda like molded us and hypnotically convinced us into like living a certain type of life and we assumed certain identities, we assumed certain burdens and responsibilities and shames and guilt that I believe that God did not design you to carry around.
And the way I like to describe it is, sometimes sometimes there are experiences that we have that create certain opinions or identities that we assume. And there's a lot of times when things like that happen,
you don't want anybody to know about it. And so you take that experience like for me, I was sexually abused by a Christian teacher when I was 12 years old. My body was barely developed and there was a man doing things to me that no man should ever do to a little boy. But I didn't want to tell my dad. Fear,
right? I had fear that if I tell my dad, he's going to be like, Oh, well, you know that feeling of brokenness and dirtiness that you have? It's because you're gay now and there's no chance for you, so I'm sorry. I had so much fear that if I was fully known and I told the truth, that I would be rejected,
that I would be abandoned, that I would be unlovable. And so I took that thing that happened and I put it down in the basement of my life,
and I tucked it away, I put things on top of it, and then I went and I built my kingdom on top of that, built my body up, built up my resume and my career and my bank account and my reputation.
And then that toxic mold that was living in the basement foundation of my life found its way into the air condition system and it began to pollute my marriage. It began to create toxic relationship between my son and I. And I say those things to say,
That's the picture of my family, but now let me show you a picture of where I was living about eight years ago. That's a picture from a Craigslist ad. I was a Super Bowl champion, retired from the NFL, living in San Diego with my family, But that's actually where I was living. Nobody on Instagram knew that.
But I set my family down about eight years ago after I retired from the NFL because I never took that, I never dealt with that thing down in the basement of my life. And because of that, it tormented me and it created disorder.
It created dysfunction because my whole life was predicated off of what I could do and what I could achieve because if people knew who I was and what was done to me and all these like perverted little things that happened afterwards, like finding pornography six months after being abused and liking it.
But that was my dirty little secret. So now I live with this like shame and guilt over here, but then I try to go achieve the great things so I could be loved, so I could be valuable, so I could be worthy.
Take that picture down. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
All right, I just want to pray for us right now, and I want to pray for us that God would do a work in you. I love what Daniel said, that Steve's coming back in a month, and he's hosting a one day transformational leadership event for men, but I believe that if you're open to it, you don't have to wait a month.
I believe that if you're at the end of yourself the way that I was two thousand seven hundred and eighteen days ago,
it wasn't knowledge that I learned about God, it was an encounter with this Holy Spirit that changed everything for me. So everybody just bow your heads. I'm gonna pray for us that the Holy Spirit would bless our time and that it wouldn't be my words that you would hear, but that God would speak to your spirit
and he would help you to identify the shame and the guilt that you brought into this room. Maybe the religion that you're in, like you're feeling unworthy and disqualified because
you're trying to be perfect for God. And God doesn't want your perfection. He doesn't want your works. He wants your faith. He wants your heart. You might have brought in fear in here this morning, anger, depression. I know for me, had unforgiveness for myself. Even though I didn't do that thing to me,
because it broke me in a certain type of way, I started doing things that I wasn't proud of. Trying to prove to other people, no, I'm not gay. Look, I went home with this girl. And then harboring extra shame and extra guilt for hurting other people to try to make myself feel better.
And right now, with everybody's eyes closed, I want to speak to the wicked spirit of suicide that walked into this room, that you can't have these sons and you can't have these daughters, that the price has already been paid, that every single person under the sound of my voice, I loosen
what is in bondage of you right now. In Jesus' name, I just ask that Jehovah Shalom peace would fill this place. God, that you would make an exchange this morning. And God, we believe all of these things in Jesus Christ's name that we pray, amen.
Okay, friends, there's four verses I wanna share with you. The first one I already kind of alluded to, Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world, transformed by the renewing of your mind. The enemy wants you, little by little,
to take what it is that the world puts on you. Like for me, the world tried to tell me that I was unworthy because these different things happened to me.
The next verse that I wanna share with you is John ten ten, that the enemy comes to steal, to kill, and destroy. It doesn't say he comes to destroy and kill and then steal. No, he says steal. Because the first thing that the enemy wants to do is try to steal our identity.
And that's what the enemy had for me when I was 11 years old. I grew up in church.
Like, love, my dad and my mom are still married. They never had sex until they got married. They never did drugs, they never smoked a cigarette. They raised me in church where you had to wear khakis and you had to tuck your shirt in. If you talked in the pew, they smacked you in the back of the head.
You guys are laughing, but it's for real. I remember going to Sunday school. This is a true story.
I remember going to Sunday school as a little boy and getting kicked out of Sunday school every single Sunday. Sunday's supposed to be a place we're all welcome, right? Dude, I'm learning the books of the bible from out From the hallway. And when I would know an answer, would be like, oh, that's that's Ezra108.
My mom would be like, Steven, because she was the teacher, I'm sorry, you can't win the Tootsie Rolls from the hallway. And kindergarten was the same way. I got sent to the principal's office the first five days of kindergarten
and I got paddled because it was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where they didn't have to call your parents. And I associated how I am
with being bad because I I was pain was inflicted upon me. So we can all laugh right now because I'm six foot three, two hundred and forty pounds of freedom in Jesus name. But when I was eight years old, I hated myself because I had two brothers and a sister, they never got in trouble.
Honor rolls was A's and B's, right? But when I was a kid, they greeted you on conduct. And I remember crying in my mom's lap. Every single time the report cards would come out, because I'm smart, I would get A's and B's, but conduct, I'd get an F. So I'm always disqualified from the award.
So I'm already not feeling like I fit into my family. I already don't feel like I fit in in kindergarten. I already don't feel like I fit in in Sunday school.
And I and I have the the world says I have I have what the world calls ADHD. I reject that label. I'm special, my mom says. My mom says, you just got ants in your pants. And I remember the price that my mom would pay.
My mom, real talk, would get up at 05:00 in the morning, I'd be in third and fourth grade, and she'd get a flashlight and she'd ride a bike and I had to run after her. And my mom was doing her best to get my wiggles out before school. And sure, it helped a little bit, but I still got a effing conduct
but now I can run like Forrest Gump. Bless my mom. And I say all those things to say, my mom went to great lengths, my dad too. They put me on a certain diet and didn't give me medications, and it didn't it didn't help. I didn't feel like I fit in, but then when I played sports, it was the one place I got celebrated.
And I remember the first time where, like, things really changed for me and I got attracted to Jesus
wasn't at my church. I was 11 years old before I was like, oh, yeah, I want Jesus Christ in my life. I went to a power team concert. I don't know if you guys know what the power team I saw a couple of you gasping over there. There's a couple there's a couple gray beards in the house.
But the power team was essentially six to eight men that looked like they're in the WWF, not the WWE, the WWF. You know, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, not these frilly little kids that like put fingernail polish and do back flips off of it. Logan Paul, he ain't a WWF wrestler, he's a YouTuber. Come on. I'm talking old school.
Macho man. That's why my beard looks like it is, man. And I got a little bit of a mohawk in the back too. My mom can't tell me how to cut my hair anymore. But I loved those guys. And I remember I'd watch them on TV and my dad would come by and he would say, hey, you can't watch this. These guys are egotistical.
They're all about themselves. And he'd turn it off and he'd walk away and I'd turn it back on. But I'm like, they're so cool. And I remember when the power team came into town,
they looked just like the WWF wrestlers, and they would do all these incredible feats of strength, breaking bricks and busting bats and ripping phone books. And then at the end, they had a main guy come out, and he shared his testimony. And then he shared what it was to have a relationship with God,
to have a relationship with Jesus. And I was so inspired, not just by the physical feats that they were doing, but I was so inspired that it was like a WWF wrestler mixed with Jesus because he was powerful and he was strong and he was aggressive, but he was also crying when he's given his testimony. So he was gentle
and he was joyful and I was like, I want that. So I was on the front row. I didn't raise one hand, I raised both. I'm like, I want it.
And for the next six months, you didn't have to tell me to read my bible. You didn't have to tell me to pray my prayers. I belonged to God. I was bending iron hangers, was stealing my mom's hangers and bending them over my head
in the mirror in Jesus name. I was reading my bible just like the power team. Remember when the coupons used to come out on Sunday? I would steal those and I would rip those in half in Jesus name. That was like the biggest trouble that I would get in, be destroying my mom's things in Jesus' name.
And then that man asked me to stay after school one day and he did the most horrific things to me and I was broken. I'm like, wait a second, if God is good and God has a great plan for my life, where was he when this happened? And then it caused me to doubt God, is God real? And if God is real, is he good?
And if he is good, that must mean I'm bad. And so that's when I made into the enemy was stealing my identity and he convinced me that I'm no good. But if I work really, really hard and get really, really strong, nobody would ever be able to abuse me again and maybe I could achieve something great that would make me worthy.
And so, because I don't have a ton of time, I'm gonna zoom through high school, I'm gonna zoom through college. Sports were my life and I also had this hidden addiction to pornography.
And then I convinced myself, just like we all do, I justified my sin. I'm like, well, I'm not having sex because I went to one of those churches that like, well, if you have sex, you're going to hell. And like, that was like the number one thing that I learned in the bible in the church that I went to. They didn't talk to me about the forgiveness of God.
They didn't talk to me about the love of Jesus and they certainly didn't talk to me about the power of the holy spirit. That was something that they never mentioned. Very religious church. And like I honor and I love my dad. He was doing his best.
But there was a portion of God that I didn't have access to that I didn't know about. And in this time of it was a faith crisis because I didn't have intimacy with my father, because he grew up with an old school dad,
didn't put him on his lap and rub his back and tell him he's a good boy. My dad didn't do that for me. So I didn't feel safe that I could take something to him that I wasn't really sure how to handle. So I bundled it up and I put it in the basement of my life and I achieved.
And I remember when I got the phone call that I was going to get to join the New Orleans Saints, I remember calling my dad.
And my dad doesn't even remember this, but there were several times where I would take the achievement to my dad and hoping that heaven was going to open up and he was going to say, I'm so proud of you. I remember calling him when I found out that I made the team,
the New Orleans Saints. And I remember when they gave me my locker. I was number seven in between Reggie Bush and Drew Brees. I'm from Terre Haute, Indiana. This is a big deal. So I called my dad, I said, dad, you're never gonna believe that they're stitching our last name on the back of New Orleans Saints jersey.
Can you believe that? And dad, guess what? I'm number seven, right in between Drew Brees and Reggie Bush. And my dad says, man, that's great, but there's a difference between Reggie Bush, Drew Brees and you. If you have a bad game this weekend, Reggie and Drew are gonna have a locker on Monday, you won't. And I was like,
you're right, dad.
And it was the same thing when I got a college scholarship. I called him and said, dad, I'm the first one in our family to get a scholarship to college. You don't have to pay for anything. He said, well, that's great, but if you get caught doing what I know you've been doing, they're gonna take that scholarship from you.
And the next really big defining moment that I had with my dad, fast forward six more years, and we're in the Super Bowl against Tom Brady and the New England football Patriots, and we beat him. I remember my son's coming out of the bleachers, this is a total movie moment, and I remember handing the trophy to my dad.
And because he was ill equipped for those intimate moments, I never even made eye contact with him. He said, Oh, this is nice. Let me show your mom. I was expecting heaven to open up and the angels to fill me up with, like, You're proud of yourself for the first time.
And it didn't happen, so I get back to my hotel room, long past when everybody's telling me how great of a game that I had. And I did, I had the best game of my life in Super Bowl forty six, had four punts inside the 10 yard line and it's still a Super Bowl record. I only say those things to say, men and women,
how many times have we said in our mind like, Man, when I get here, when I get here, things are gonna be okay. Well, I've gotten to a couple of those places that in my mind I thought like, I'll be enough. The anxiety is gonna go away. The tormenting thoughts are going to go away. The nightmares are going to go away.
And I'm standing here before you because I've checked enough of those boxes to realize like, what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world and to lose his soul? And that's where I was when I was staying in that Airbnb garage. Super Bowl champion, you know, Money in the Bank, Muscle magazines, I had the world.
But because I had never shared with anybody who I really am and the burdens that I'm carrying around and the responsibilities that I was taking for things that were done to me and also things that I did,
I couldn't bear it anymore. And so I ended up retiring after ten years in the NFL out of nowhere and my dad, my mom, my wife, my mentor, my teammates, what are you doing? You're walking away from the dream, x amount of dollars for six months of work. And Steve, you're a punter. It ain't that hard.
And the truth is they were wrong. But I knew that if I continued to give to the NFL, what it was giving me back was an even exchange.
And so I retired out of nowhere. Moved out to San Diego because that's where we spent our NFL offseasons. Within two weeks of me moving out there, I ended up sitting my family down and telling my kids. Like, I made the issue my wife's fault
because I thought, well, I've got everything that the world has to offer and I'm still not happy. And the enemy convinced me, oh, it's your wife's fault. And so while I was in that Airbnb garage, I had a friend that interrupted my life and invited me
to go to a men's conference, maybe like somebody invited you to be in this room right now. And I went to this men's conference and I got special permission, that good looking 17 year old son, he was 11 years old at the time,
and I got special permission for him to go to this men's conference where you're supposed to be 13 and up and the first thing that they gave us when I got out to this men's conference was a two by four, like a piece of wood and marker.
And they said, Go spend ten minutes with God and I want you to write down everything on this burden board that you brought into the desert that you want God to take away. And I was like, I'm already suicidal at this point. I've got nothing to lose. I'm at the end of myself. So I go down, I sit shame,
guilt, fear, fear of man, fear of failure, jealousy, pride, ego, alcohol, drugs,
gambling, just like all of the things about myself that I've tried to fill the void. Like if it wasn't pills, was alcohol. If it wasn't alcohol, it was winning. If it wasn't winning, it was building my body. It was always something else. It was always a new
hamster wheel that I would create for myself and so I was so tired I just wrote it all down and I put it on my back and then I walked into the circus tent. And I remember walking into that circus tent and feeling an energy hit me. And I look around and there's 2,000
men that look like the men in this church, not men in khakis with their shirts tucked in, and no offense if you have khakis and your shirts tucked in, you're cool. You're cool because your leader is pastor Daniel, you know.
He is not a religious leader, he's a mighty man of God that wants the kingdom to come. And so I walked into this tent and I'm seeing all these men with their hands raised up and they're actually singing out of their mouth. And some of them are crying but it doesn't look like crying, like tears of pain,
joy and happiness. And I remember sitting down and just kind of watching because I hadn't been to church in fifteen years. And the main speaker walks up
and I didn't recognize his name, but he was a big old guy, and he had a white head of hair and huge arms, so he walks up and normally, you don't see gigantic white haired jacked preachers, so he has my attention.
And so he speaks into the microphone and I am not making this up. As soon as he speaks into the microphone, I feel like I got hit by a lightning bolt. My skin starts vibrating and I feel like I'm floating out of my chair. So I grab the sides of my seat and I look over at my son to see the same thing's happened to him. He's got his hand on his cheek. I look at my friend Nick Unsworth that invited me, he's picking his nose. I'm like, Okay, it's only me.
So this guy preaches for like another ten minutes and this feeling that I'm having is increasing. So I look at my friend Nick, I'm like, What's this guy's name? And he tells me his name and I Google it and the third picture that pops up is a picture of the guy that's on the stage from 1994
busting bricks in Jesus' name and I'm like, that's the guy from Baton Rouge, Louisiana when I was 11 years old. And not only did he lead me into a relationship with Jesus, but he was the man that gave me permission to step into all the dreams that I had. Because when I went to that church,
it was a church that was under the control of the poverty spirit. If anybody rolled into that little church of 50 people that we had and they were driving a Cadillac, every person at that church would point their finger and say, they should give more money to people that are poor.
It was like you couldn't win at that church. But that guy interrupted the religion of my upbringing to tell me that God wants great things for me. So these dreams that I believe that God put inside of me to be a professional athlete and to do great and mighty works for the Lord,
I always felt bad about them. And then that man changed everything. And so he got done preaching and I ran around the side of the tent and told him who he is to me. And then I remember walking back to my seat and having three revelations about God that changed everything.
I knew in that moment that God was real. I knew that God was real. I knew that God was good because of what I was experiencing. I didn't realize in that moment, but I was having an encounter with the Holy Spirit, not a knowledge of the Holy Spirit. I was encountering the presence of the creator.
And I realized that God the third thing was that God was operating outside of time for this moment because I get back to my seat and I'm about to tell my friend Nick who this guy is to me and I realize I can't find my son. And while I was beginning to panic because my wife is gonna kill me, we're already not doing so well, he says, dude, look up at the front of the altar. My son was 11 years old, giving his life to Jesus that night. I was 11,
he was eleven, twenty five years in between and the same pastor. My mind's blown. And we can all clap, hey, that's wonderful. Steve, God is good. He's real. He proved a great testimony. But I still got all this shame and guilt and self hatred and self condemnation on my back. I still hate myself.
I know that God is real and boy, this feels nice. But what am I gonna do when I go home? But the very next day, they had a giant bonfire
and they gave an opportunity for every man that has a burden board to come to the front of the line to pray a prayer that I wanna pray with you. And that prayer was very, very simple, That God, I need more of you and less of me. I repent of my sins. I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. And this is the x factor part. Because I had prayed that prayer where I'd give my life to Jesus,
but I believe a lot of us have our name written in the lamb's book of life, but we're not filled and consumed with his holy spirit and his fire. And so the reason we keep getting our butt kicked by the enemy is because we're trying to defeat the flesh with the flesh.
I was giggling with with Daniel before the before the service. I was like, dude, I've run 100 mile races, I've done Ironmans, ten years in the NFL, all these different things. Like, I'm like the white David Goggins, and if I can't out discipline sin,
I don't believe anybody can, and it wasn't until I had an encounter with God and I got filled with his spirit and I said, okay God, no more 9010, no more ninety nine one. I believe that your son is that I believe that your son is our savior, that he is the great Emmanuel,
and I'm gonna give you my life. And so I threw that into the fire, and I asked that the holy spirit would fill me because I believe that every single one of us has a deposit of the holy spirit. When we were born, he put a deposit of his spirit inside of us, and the way I describe it is it's almost like chocolate milk. When I was a kid, you couldn't buy chocolate milk. You bought regular milk and you got Hershey's chocolate syrup. Who remembers that?
Right? And I was one of those kids where I would
But I believe that that's that's a funny analogy, but that's how God does it. He puts a deposit of his spirit inside of us. But it requires us to to say, God, I give you permission to stir your spirit up inside of me. I need your unconditional love. I don't need a religion with you, God. I need partnership
with you. I need you to be my great comforter, my great counselor. I need you to convict me and give me wisdom. I had been doing religion up until that point, and it had been failing me. I had been trying to discipline myself out of these different dysfunctions,
but how am I supposed to step into a purpose when I got no identity? So, it was on this weekend that I stepped into an identity in Christ, and in that identity, I received power and I received authority through the gift of his holy spirit. So I want everybody to stand up right now.
Because I've shared what I've shared this morning to help you identify maybe what are some of the things that you might have brought in here. I want everybody to close their eyes.
You know what shame is?
The difference between shame and guilt.
Guilt is what I did was wrong. Shame is I'm wrong. And in either case, the covenant blood of Jesus is available to us this morning, and that is not your inheritance. That is not something God wants you to carry around. He doesn't want you to do a religion with him.
He don't doesn't want you to live in fear. Scripture says that I didn't give you a spirit of fear, but I want my people to have a spirit of power and of love and of sound mind. Not tormenting thoughts, sound mind. Power, authority. God doesn't want doesn't want anger to run your life, depression, control.
I mean, the thing that really had me wrecked was unforgiveness.
I had trouble forgiving myself, and I also had trouble forgiving the guy that abused me. I even had unforgiveness for my dad cause he wasn't there. And it wasn't until I received the forgiveness from Jesus Christ that I didn't deserve that I could begin to give that to other people. That's freedom. That's authority.
So if you've never given your life to Jesus, I'm gonna read you a poem, and then we're gonna pray a prayer. And I'm believing that people that have already given their life to Jesus, maybe a religious prayer, we're gonna pray a prayer of power.
I read this poem every single morning. It was written by my mentor, and it's a reminder that life is hard. But when you live life on purpose,
that heart is worth it. Being your best is hard. Being normal is hard. Being disciplined is hard. Being lazy is hard. Getting outside of your comfort zone is hard. Staying in your comfort zone is hard. Having great relationships is hard. Having bad relationships is hard. Fighting for your marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Having a lot of things is hard. Having nothing is hard. Living on purpose is hard. Living off purpose is hard. Doing life God's way is hard. Doing life your own way is hard. Everything is hard.
It's time for us to choose our hard. And I believe that God sent me here to let you know the best way is God's way. He doesn't want you for religion. He wants you for relationship. So if you've never given your life to Jesus
and you're ready to pray that prayer, I'm gonna count to three. You don't need a lot of time. You know that today's the day.
You know that the time is now. Three, two, one. Put your hands up right now. I just wanna see who I'm praying for. I see your hand. I see your hand. I see your hand. I see your hand. I see your hand. All of heaven's rejoicing right now. I see your hand. I see your hand. I see your hand. I see your I see see your hand. Man, that's at least 24 people. Praise God.
Alright. Now I'm gonna give I'm gonna count three and every single other person that knows they need to rededicate their life and draw a line in the sand. Put your hand up right now. Three, two, one. Do it now. Do it now. Jesus. Jesus. Alright. Put your hands down. I want everybody to repeat after me. God
God. Don't use your church voice, family. Let's go. God. God. I want more of you and less of me.
No more will the enemy steal. No will enemy steal. Kill. Kill. Destroy my legacy. I
need your forgiveness, God.
I receive your forgiveness. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. Jesus, come into my my heart. Come heart. Be my my Lord and my savior. Put your hands up, family. When
you put your hands up right now, I just want you to know that that's that's your sign that I'm releasing. You can't reach up and receive what God has for you if you're holding on to the suitcase of your shame and your guilt and your dysfunction.
So as you put your hands up, that's your sign to God I'm releasing and I'm receiving. I'm committing to you for the rest of my life. And I want you to know right now that your inheritance is freedom, power, and authority. Greater is he that lives in you than he that lives in the world. The Holy Spirit came
that we would do even greater things than Jesus, signs, miracles, and wonders. So I just want you to say, holy spirit, I give you permission to stir my spirit and fill me from the top of my heads to the bottoms of my feet. Consume me in your unconditional love. Love you. I give you my life.
It's in Jesus Christ's name that I pray. Amen. Amen. Amen.
