Tithing is not one of the Ten Commandments; it goes back before Moses to Cain and Abel, Abraham, and Jacob. Cain brought God leftovers and was rejected, while Abel brought his best and firstborn and was accepted, showing tithing is fundamentally about what is first in your life, not the amount given.

In Matthew 23:23 Jesus corrects the Pharisees not for tithing but for neglecting justice, mercy, and faith while tithing, showing He never revokes the practice. Paul in 1 Corinthians 16:2 tells believers to set aside a proportional sum weekly so the mission is funded without special collections.
